Peņasco Children's Foundation Executives to walk From Phoenix to Rocky Point
In October, two Arizona Executives will make a grueling 175-mile trek through the desert to raise money for needy children in Puerto Peņasco, Mexico.
Steve Schwab and Rich LaNasa will walk the entire 175 plus miles from Phoenix to Puerto Peņasco,
or commonly known as Rocky Point, to raise money for the Peņasco Children's Foundation, the non-profit organization that Steve founded 2 years ago.
The Peņasco Children's Foundation was created in order to provide medical and educational assistance to underprivileged children and their families in Rocky Point.
The "Walk For The Children" will start in Buckeye, AZ on October 2, 2006 with arrival in Rocky Point Mexico anticipated on October 8th or 9th.
This is Scottsdale resident Schwab's second time to walk this entire distance, with the last being in October 2004.
During the six-day inaugural journey, Steve was able to raise close to $10,000 thanks to the generous donations from the local Puerto Peņasco businesses and friends.
This year however, he will be accompanied by Tucson resident Rich LaNasa, and hopes to double the amount of donations.
"We hope to be able to make the "Walk For The Children" an annual event with many more people getting involved by adding a relay every 20 miles,
" Steve indicated. "Although Rocky Point has flourished with the recent tourism surge to the community, the children of Puerto Peņasco are still in need
of healthcare and educational assistance", he added.
The Peņasco Children's Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is requesting donations.
